This article looks at how to edit 360 degree video in Davinci Resolve efficiently. Get details now.
When you got some 360° videos(from game game trailers like Battlefield 1, Final Fatasy XV, God of War etc.; YouTube brand-new 360 degree video subscription; Disney movie The Jungle Book movie trailer; Ricoh Theta S camera…), the first thing you goolge is how to edit 360-degree video. Why? Because 360 Video editing is a little daunting and tricky. Now, in this page, we will teach you how to edit 360 video with Davinci Resolve easily.
Davinci Resolve is a lesser-known video editor among non-professionals. And guys, IT’S FREE. It’s actually used for advanced editing and color grading, but it makes a really, really great video editor. It’s flexible like Adobe Premiere Pro as far as export settings, so you can set custom dimensions like 1920×960(As far as we know, the dimensions for 360 video from the Ricoh Theta S will need to end up being 1920×960.).
While Davinci Resolve does the job here and is pleasant to use, there is one downside. But don’t worry– it can be easily remedied! The downside is that you can’t export in .mp4 format which is widely supported by media players VLC, QuickTime, Windows Media Player, iTunes, portable devices Galaxy Tab, iPad, iPhone, etc. To fix this, you’ll export as .mov file from Davinci Resolve and then use a program Brorsoft Video Converter to convert it over to .mp4 for easier playback and sharing. Easy Peasy.
Overall, Brorsoft Video Converter is precisely an excellent VR 360 video converter to convert virtual reality videos. It is capable of converting 360 degree videos, 4K/8K UHD videos, torrent movies to Android/Windows/iOS devices in MP4, M4V, FLV, AVI and so forth. Moreover, this 360 degree video converter delivers a super fast speed for virtual reality video conversion with almost original quality reserved. For Mac users, you can turn to Video Converter for Mac.
May 12, 2018 360 video has offered a new way for filmmakers and video editors to tell their story. Given the difference between the new medium and traditional 2D media, content creators need different tools for editing 360 videos. You might be familiar with regular video editing, but are at a loss for 360 editing, either on your phone or desktop.
(Note: Click here for OS X 10.5).
Step 1: Free download the 360 degree video converter, install and launch it. Then import the 360° virtual reality video by clicking “Add Files” button.
Step 2: Choose the output format. To your surprise probably, all VR videos are in traditional formats, instead of specifically developed virtual reality video formats. So the common formats like MP4, MOV, FLV, MKV etc., are all 360 degree video compatible formats.
Step 3: Specify the video parameters like resolution, bitrate, frame rate.
Step 4: Hit convert button to start the short process of virtual reality 360 video conversion.

Editor’s Note: I know… it sounds complicated… meta and data and injecting… but it’s not. Really, it’s not. See, when you’re done editing your 360 video, and you export it like you would any video, it has to be turned back into a 360 video in order for YouTube and Facebook to display the video with the 360 controls. Otherwise, it would upload as a regular flat video, which is fine, but it’s not 360.
So the Metadata Injector simply imports a little bit of data into your file that tells YouTube or Facebook, “this is a 360 video! whoop whoop!!”. Well, it might not exclaim it quite like that, but you get the idea.

In this video tutorial, check out how you can use the VR Comp Editor in Adobe After Effects — including free 360° footage.
One of the new feature additions to After Effects CC 2018 was the VR Comp Editor. However, because it is somewhat hidden, you may not have realized this powerful 360 plugin is even available in After Effects.
(Hint: In After Effects, click on the Window option at top, then scroll all the way down to “VR Comp Editor.jsx” to launch the plugin.)
Ready? Let’s dive into the tutorial. (Make sure you download the free 360° footage clips to follow along!)

Right off the bat, let’s backtrack for a second because you may already know the VR Comp Editor by its previous name: “SkyBox Composer.” SkyBox Composer was one of a company called Mettle’s latest 360 plugins, just before Adobe acquired all of the SkyBox 360 Effects. The plugin is now the “VR Comp Editor.”
You still might be wondering “What makes the VR Comp Editor so great?” For starters, you can use the VR Comp Editor to edit your 360° footage from a Point of View (POV) perspective. This allows you to add elements or remove objects much like you would for traditional “flat” footage. (So you don’t need to be well-versed in 360° footage to easily make changes.)
Next, because you can edit from a POV perspective, we can stabilize and track 360 video, all directly in After Effects. You no longer have to worry about endlessly trying to level moving 360° footage. Now it’s as easy to stabilize 360° footage as it is any other video clip in After Effects. You can also add 3D layers like text and float them through your 360 scene as the camera moves.
